Maidstone Hospital Accident and Emergency Department
I –TAG have extreme concern at any run down of A&E services at Maidstone Hospital. For our elderly living in the local villages of Tonbridge and Malling this could be a matter of life and death. The majority of our elderly folk have access to public transport to get to the hospital. However, in the event of an emergency or accident the proposed hospitals at Pembury, Medway or Dartford would be practically in accessible by public transport for most of our elderly folk.
Additionally, as a group we are trying to reduce the traffic levels in our communities not force our people into cars and increase the level of traffic on our already congested roads when public transport is already provisioned. Relocating A&E services to pembury would mean that our folk would have to have access to cars as the public transport infrastructure is simply of no quality to access Pembury or Medway or Dartford hospitals in the case of emergency.
